Bunker Renovations - Turf Drainage Company of America

Canongate Golf of Atalanta, GA. recently purchased four golf courses at The Woodlands, outside of Houston, TX. Among the many capital improvements Canongate has made to the properties, a major bunker reconstruction project was began in 2008. Turf Drainage Co of America was proud to supply many of the materials chosen by Mike Archer and Bob Blalock, construction managers for Canongate Golf, during the renovation. Not only was all of the bunker drainage replaced with Turf Drain and Perma Basins, but Mike and Bob added portland cement to the bunker sub-grades to stabilize them and to reduce the contamination that was occurring. The gulf coast of Texas can have some of the heaviest rains of anywhere in the country.
After 17” of rain recently, the bunkers were not only reported to have drained well, but the erosion off of the bunker faces was minimal. Notice how they cut the interceptor line directly below the toe of the upper bunker wall. This line allows all of the water that runs into the bunker to be collected by the Turf Drain system, and stops the movement of the water across the sub-grade, causing the sand to erode away.
